The number one objective of the Hawk Mountain Council is to deliver a high-quality program to the youth and families of Berks, Schuylkill, and Carbon counties. The current inflationary pressures in the economy are having an impact on the Council and our Scouting families alike. At the Council level, the increasing cost pressures from inflation, declining revenue from several sources, and the overall rising obligations our council pays to the national organization are impacting the delivery of our Scouting program.
In September of 2022, the Hawk Mountain Council Executive Board approved a plan to include a $55 per youth and $30 per adult Service Fee. This new fee is inclusive of the $15 insurance fee previously charged. It also adopted an additional youth discount of $20 per youth where families have more than one youth member active in Scouting. Additionally, the board has determined and requests that each unit only remit 95% of the fees due from the unit directly retaining 5% at the unit level to assist members. In this way, each unit will be able to assist individual families with difficulty in meeting this financial obligation.
An additional scholarship fund has been established to meet the needs of families beyond what a unit may assist. A link to the Service Fee Scholarship is below.
