OA Ordeal/Service Weekend

Kittatinny Lodge, Order of the Arrow, Ordeal & Service Weekend.

OA – Section E11 Conclave

Tentatively to be hosted by Hawk Mountain Council, Kittatinny Lodge, at the Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation. More info to follow.

OA – Brotherhood Day

We will be having a single day of service followed by a Brotherhood Ceremony for our fellow Arrowman sealing their bonds.

Schedule

Registration starts at 8:30am. Service starts at 9:00am. We will break for lunch, and then service from 12:30-2:00pm. Brotherhood ceremony will start at 2:30pm, followed by a short cracker barrel and our November Quarterly Meeting. The new 2023 officers will be voted upon at the November Quarterly Meeting. We are encouraging all registered members of the lodge, youth and adult, to attend this day of cheerful service. Departure will be around 4:00pm.

What to Bring

Attendees should bring their own water bottle, work clothes/gloves, and uniform for ceremonies. Lunch and cracker barrel will be provided.

Special Notes

  • All Ordeal members who took their Ordeal during or before the May 2022 service weekend (including previous years) are eligible and encouraged to take their Brotherhood at this event.
  • Ordeal members who took their Ordeal at September 2022 weekend are encouraged to attend the event and cracker barrel, but will not be able to attend the ceremony. We will have other activities for these Arrowmen while the ceremony is occurring. We invite you to come back to take your Brotherhood in the spring of 2023.

OA – NOAC

NOAC – The National Order of the Arrow Conference. Like a Jamboree for OA Members only. Held this year at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. we will be taking a motor coach to/from NOAC. Cost of the Conference is $575 before Dec 15, 2021, or $625 Dec 16, 2021 thru May 30, 2022.

OA Vigil Weekend

Vigil Members of the Order of the Arrow are invited to attend. Those recently nominated for this honor will hold their Vigil.

OA Section E11 Conclave

The inaugural Section E11 Conclave to be held at Hidden Valley Scout Reservation, New Birth of Freedom Council, in Loysville, PA, hosted by Sasquesahanough Lodge 11. There will be a Medieval Theme !

Open to all current OA members. Cost $40.00. The section has currently allotted 35 members from Kittatinny to participate. Arrowmen must find their own transportation to Conclave, so we suggest unit carpools, etc.

REMINDER: Scouting youth under age 18 are not insured under the BSA’s commercial general liability policy and cannot be allowed to drive to or from Scouting activities. This includes an under-18 Scout or Venturer driving himself or herself to a Scouting event, even if he or she is the only one in the car.

Next to a Jamboree and a NOAC, the section conclave is probably the largest inter-council event in the Boy Scouts of America. What happens at a section conclave can make a big difference in the effectiveness of lodge and chapter programs of the Order of the Arrow and in the dedication of an individual Arrowmen.

Polestar – Inductions Leadership Training

The OA membership journey, called the Induction, begins at the Unit election and culminates in the Brotherhood ceremony. Polestar: Induction Leadership Training clarifies the true service the OA provides to Scouting and how the Induction achieves this purpose. Polestar builds excellence in execution of the Induction, helping lodge leaders to improve membership activation and retention.

Polestar: Induction Leadership Training consists of an engaging two-hour video presentation, coupled with locally-facilitated group discussions and workshops through the Participant Workbook. While the training can be taken at any time by individuals online, the ideal format is small group sessions at lodge or section events. Polestar should be experienced by all youth and adults who lead the essential activities of the OA locally–as well as any members who wish to learn more about how (and why) the OA functions. The intended audience includes lodge and chapter advisers, lodge and chapter officers, and other key youth and adult.

Lodge Executive Committee (LEC) members falling under the Vice-Chief of Inductions committees (CP&E, Elangomat, Ordeal, Brotherhood), and those in Ceremonies are expected to attend. Others in the lodge with a desire to fully understand the meaning of purpose of the Induction ceremonies, etc., are invited to attend.

NOTE: This training is primarily targeted to Brotherhood members who have gone through the entire Induction sequence, however, Ordeal members may still attend, but will not be able to participate in those sections of the training specifically discussing the Brotherhood ceremonies.
