OA A.T. Service Project

March 27, 2021 @ 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

  • « Orienteering Adventure Weekend
  • Cacoosing District Committee »

This is an OA service project held in conjunction with the Blue Mountain Eagle Climbing Club, maintainers of the local section of the Appalachian Trail. Over the years we’ve developed a working relationship and are one of the few lodges with routine work with AT trail maintenance.

The AT project this year will be at the Fisher Overlook located on blue mountain between routes 501 and 645 on March 27th. This year’s project will focus on returning the overlook to a more natural state, and erosion control. This includes dispersing fire rings, and benches, as well as adding water bars on the trail on either side of the overlook. A scout is always prepared so be sure to bring work gloves, a water bottle, lunch, and shovels/spades(any tool to move dirt around).

We’ve typically met at camp and all driven over tot he work site access together. Length of the project will depend on number of attendees and how quickly the work progresses. More details will be released closer to the date of the event.

Please register online so we know how many to expect, and can make further arrangements for transportation, tools, and support.
