  • Council Training Committee »

We will be having our Annual Black Rock District Business Meeting on Thursday May 12th at 6:30pm. We ask that all Chartered Organization Representatives attend this meeting to ensure that your Chartered Organization and any units chartered with them are represented for this meeting. All registered BSA Leaders within Black Rock District are welcome to attend, however only certain positions are allowed to vote during this meeting (see those positions below).  It will be held on Zoom Videoconferencing.  If unable to attend via Zoom, a telephone in option is also available.  If interested and able to attend, please RSVP to Cole Mitchell by May 1st, 2022.

BELOW YOU WILL FIND INFORMATION ABOUT THE DISTRICT COMMITTEE & THE ANNUAL MEETING

What is the District Committee?

The District Committee is responsible for increasing the effectiveness of Scouting throughout a district through the achievement of district goals. Thus, the task of the district nominating committee selecting a slate of competent officers and Members-at-Large for the next year is an extremely important one.

More information regarding the District Committee and general district operations can be found in the District Operations Handbook available HERE.

Information & Process for the Annual District Committee Meeting:

Purpose of the District Annual Meeting

To elect District officers and District Members-at-Large.

Those eligible to vote:

  1. Chartered Organization Representatives registered and currently representing Chartered Organizations within the district’s geographical boundaries. (See more information below)
  2. Registered District Members-at-Large and District officers duly elected at the last Annual District Business Meeting or during the interim at a regular, duly called District Committee meeting
  3. Registered Council Members-at-Large residing in the district

Chartered Organization Representative

The Chartered Organization Representative is automatically a voting member of the Council and the District upon the selection or appointment by the community organization and when registered as a member of the Boy Scouts of America. The individual is to be registered during the time that the Chartered Organization designates this person as Chartered Organization Representative and shall have one vote. A Chartered Organization may only have one representative.  More information regarding the roles and responsibilities of a Chartered Organization Representative, can be found in the Chartered Organization Representative Guidebook available HERE.

District Committee Members-at-Large Nomination Procedure

Nominations may be made in writing to the nominating committee for inclusion in its report providing the nominees thus entered are received by the nominating committee at least two weeks prior to the District Annual Business Meeting. If accepted by the nominating committee, the candidate will be contacted by the nominating committee and permission received from the person to stand for election and to serve.

If you have any questions regarding the District Annual Business Meeting please contact Greg Sklar, Black Rock District Chair or Cole Mitchell, Black Rock District Executive.
