Rudy Benkert (570-739-2752) is the Black Rock District Advancement Chairman. David Fry will be doing
“Life to Eagle” packets at the District Roundtables and District Committee Meetings. Please call David
Fry (570-773-2068) in advance so he can include you in his scheduling.
Every Youth Deserves A Trained Leader
Cub Scout leaders are considered trained when they have completed New Leader Essentials and the Cub Scout
Leader Specific Training for their position.
Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters are considered trained when they have completed New Leader
Essentials, Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster Leader Specific Training, and Introduction to Outdoor
Leader Skills. Troop Committee members are considered trained when they have completed New Leader Essentials
and the Troop Committee Challenge as their Leader Specific Training.
National Camping Award
Boy Scout troops can earn this award based on the number of days and nights they spend camping. Forms are
available at the Council Service Center.
Summer Time Pack Award
Your pack qualifies for the Summer Time Pack Award if they do an activity in the months of June, July and
or August. Forms are available at the Council Service Center.

Black Rock District Training
Aug 30 Cub Specific Training Cancelled
Black Rock District Cub Scout Specific Training scheduled for 9:00 AM on August 30, 2008 at the Pottsville Hospital has been cancelled. This training was announced in the July/August edition of the Herbie Hawk News for the Black Rock District.
Training Opportunities
Cub Scout Leader Specific Training will be offered at Roundtables beginning
at 7:00 PM (promptly) and concluding by 9:00 PM. Cost for Leader Specific and Committee Training is $5.00. New
Leaders Essentials is free.
2008 Cub Leader Specific Training will be held at Schuylkill Career & Technology Center, North Campus, Frackville.
